LASD RADIO Practice Exam Prep – Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department

Obstructing a designated vehicle space typically falls under the category of illegal parking, which involves parking a vehicle in a manner that violates parking regulations. These regulations are put in place to ensure safety, accessibility, and order on public roadways and in parking facilities. For instance, designated vehicle spaces often refer to areas reserved for specific vehicle types, such as handicapped spaces or loading zones. When a vehicle is parked improperly in these spaces, it can impede access for those who need to use them, thus constituting a violation of parking laws.

The other options—vandalism, stalking, and trespassing—do not relate to vehicle parking regulations. Vandalism involves the intentional destruction or damage to property, stalking refers to repeated and unwanted attention or surveillance, and trespassing involves entering someone else's property without permission. These terms describe completely different legal issues, making illegal parking the correct violation associated with obstructing a designated vehicle space.
